Akademibokhandeln is the market leading book store chain in Sweden with 125 stores around the country. Offering a wide assortment of books but also paper goods, stationaries and magazines. There´s been a long-time challenge for traditional book stores to compete with the growing on-line market. The assigment was to define a new role for the book store in this changing media landscape that also creates possitive synergies to their online store.
The conceptual idea was to create a commercial culture house. A focus on knowledge and service combined with in-store events such as readings, book signings, exhibitions etc. From a traditional ”books-on-shelves”-store to a much more inspiring and modernized retail experience.
